Life Drawing - head measuements

I can’t do that thing where you’re supposed to be able to see the proportions by holding up a pencil/stick/ruler. Nope. I just look like an idiot.

Memories of Neverland

A Peter Pan/Neverland themed shadow box I made for 3D Design.
There’s nothing specifically from the book/movies, just a bunch of stuff. It’s a virtual I-Spy of crap in there… acorns, seashells, rope, leaves, rocks, beads, coins, marbles, a tiny pirate cannon and compass, a map, a pirate ship, a feather, etc, etc, etc.

I have a weird hobby of collecting all kinds of stuff. Since I was a kid, I’ve collected all kinds of silly things. I searched through a whole bunch of my stuff to came up with this small pile. Almost every single thing in that box has some kind of childhood story attached to it, which is pretty cool. What was initially just going to be a box with some pirate stuff in it actually became a box of memories. :)

Also, what you can’t really see in these pictures is that the other three sides of the box and the lid are all plastered with aged maps of places I’ve actually visited.

Through the Looking Glass

Alice in Wonderland themed shadowbox for 3D Design.
The idea was that you had to go “through the looking glass” to get inside Wonderland, hence the mirror on the outside.
It’s a compilation of things from the books: A clock, the key, the bottle of liquid, the cakes, the mushrooms, the decks of cards, the white roses, etc…

It really didn’t turn out quite the way I’d have liked it to. I was pressed for time and couldn’t find all of the stuff I would have liked to have included in this shadowbox. I’ll add more to it as I find it.

Steampunk Firefly

Sculpture for 3D Design: found-object creation

It’s pretty easy to see what I was going for here. It’s a firefly made out of a lightbulb, a clock motor, some copper wire, and other things you might have just laying around your house.

I really enjoyed making this, so I’ll probably make a few more. All with be unique, of course, as I don’t have the exact same materials to work with again.
Oh, and FYI: The penny is huge, the sculpture isn’t actually that tiny.

Also, this sculpture was featured in my school’s annual art magazine, so that’s cool.
